The man, who The Courier cannot name for legal reasons, was arrested on Thursday afternoon after his partner reported three incidents of alleged family violence to police.
Magistrate Letizia Torres said police allegations revealed the man was effectively 'tormenting' his partner in their home.
"There seems to be an entrenched pattern of jealousy and family violence here," she said.
The court heard the 26-year-old accused and the complainant had two young children together.
Police allege the man had threatened to injure and kill his partner during an argument on July 26, which the partner recorded on her phone and provided to police.
The court heard the man allegedly threatened to break her knees and every bone in her body and to shoot and rape her.
The accused is extremely controlling of the affected family member and violent towards her when he doesn't get her own way.

He allegedly said 'we will be pushing you around in a wheelchair for the rest of your life'.
The man is also accused of punching his partner to the head, grabbing her hair and pulling her from the bed by the hair on Thursday morning.
Police have charged the man for another alleged family violence incident on June 5 when he became obsessive about seeing a text message on his partner's phone.
He took the phone off her and entered her bedroom a number of times throughout the night allegedly making threats to kill and injure her.
The court heard he allegedly threatened to drive her out to the bush and kill her, pinned her wrists down on the bed and punched her in the left eye.
Police allege the man re-entered the bedroom throughout the night, pulling her arms and threatening to break them if she did not give him the pin to her phone.
At one point he boiled the kettle and allegedly held it above her body and head and said he would pour boiling water on her face so 'no one else would want her'.
The man was arrested on July 29 and appeared in the dock of the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on Friday to make an application for bail.
The court heard the alleged offending was in breach of a court order safety notice that prohibited family violence.
"The accused is extremely controlling of the affected family member and violent towards her when he doesn't get her own way," the police informant said.
"Police hold serious concerns for her safety."
A defence lawyer said the man could be bailed to live with his parents in Napoleons and he could spend more time in custody than any sentence if he was refused bail.
He said the man would contest some of the charges.
Ms Torres said she was not satisfied the risks could be reduced to an acceptable level.
She adjourned the bail application for a week to allow the defence to provide evidence to support the bail application.
