Under My Spell ($5.50) worked home hard to run down leader My Boy Birmingham ($3.80) to complete a double for Ballarat trainer Nigel Blackiston and apprentice jockey Alana Kelly.
They also won with Madame Solano ($6.50) in the Bartlett Blinds Maiden, 1200m, on a red-letter day for Ballarat stables.
Under My Spell led home a Ballarat trifecta, with runner-up My Boy Birmingham from the Tony and Calvin McEvoy yard and third-placed Herman Hesse ($11) prepared by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.
Blackiston said it was a pleasing result. "She's a nice mare, progressive."
He said having good speed in the race had worked in her favour.
Blackiston said Under My Spell could be a little bit quirky, but they were gradually working her out.
Under My Spell now has three wins in 10 starts - two in as many tries on the Ballarat synthetic.
On a dominant day for Ballarat stables, the Maher-Eustace trained Universal Lady ($4.80) scored in the Hertz Ballarat Maiden, 1000m; Henry Dwyer-trained Valentino's On ($3.90 favourite) won the Polytrack Maiden for fillies and mares, 1400m; Archie Alexander-trained Bonamassa ($4) took out the Porter Plant Maiden, 1500m; and the McEvoys had a double with Jucconi ($2.80 favourite) in the Hygain Class 1, 1400m, and Mayan ($11.60) in a Hygain Synthetic Series heat, 1100m.
