And it also leads the state in welcoming students who are the first in their families to attend university according to the Good Universities Guide 2021/22 ratings.

The annual ratings, released last week, showed almost three quarters of Fed Uni graduates quickly find a job after graduation, with an average graduate salary of $63,100.

"As Victoria's premier regional university, we work closely with local industry to understand exactly what they need and support our students to build the skills employers want - these outstanding results are a clear demonstration of that," said Federation University vice chancellor Professor Duncan Bentley (pictured right).

"We are part of our regional communities and have a vital role to play in giving local students from a broad range of backgrounds, many the first in their family to attend university, the opportunity to fulfil their career aspirations and transform their lives."

Prof Bentley said the university's strong ties with its local communities, with a focus on transforming lives and enhancing communities through education, creating jobs and driving economic growth in the regions, were part of the reason for its number one ranking for first generation student enrolments.

The university was also ranked number one among Victorian universities for social equity, skills development in undergraduate and postgraduate studies, and student support.
