The hospitality and accommodation industry is one of the main sectors desperate to safely re-open.

Sovereign Park Motor Inn owner Tim Canny said he wanted to be one of the first fully vaccinated workplaces in the city and he was encouraging his team to embrace that idea.

"I think that would make not only our staff feel more comfortable, having a fully vaccinated workplace, but also our guests. I think down the track this could be a really good marketing pitch. Guests may feel a lot more comfortable staying in a place which has fully vaccinated staff working there," Mr Canny said.

"Especially considering we have a lot of people staying from all over Victoria and, pre-COVID times, interstate and internationally.

"I am constantly talking to staff to make sure they've got their (vaccination) appointments."

Mr Canny said his workplace fell into the category of high-risk staff to get vaccinated because essential workers from COVID-19 hotspots, who had a permit, were staying at the Main Road venue.

"Personally, I think getting vaccinated will keep us a lot safer. We all have families and loved ones we want to protect, so I think encouraging staff at all workplaces is critical," he said.

Ballarat's The Forge Pizzeria employees, of which most are young, have only been given access to the COVID-19 vaccination this week when Victoria expanded the jab to anyone over the age of 16.

The restaurant's director, Tim Matthews, said he had not had the opportunity to talk to these staff members as yet but he would be encouraging them to get vaccinated.

He said a number of staff had received the AstraZeneca vaccine and getting vaccinated had been front of mind after a staff member's brother caught coronavirus.

"We are really encouraging staff to get vaccinated and that any staff needing the day off can be provided with that. We are hoping staff will get vaccinated now they have the opportunity," Mr Matthews said.

"We have been heavily impacted by the restrictions, so we'd like to open."

RACV, which operates the RACV Goldfields Resort at Creswick and a store at Ballarat, said it was offering its employees, and people who directly helped deliver member or customer-facing services, a small financial reward for getting their COVID-19 vaccination.

"We see this as a goodwill gesture to thank people for doing their part to protect themselves and everyone they deal with while working for or representing RACV," the statement provided to The Courier says.

"This reward will likely reach well over 5000 people across Victoria and Australia who work for or on behalf of RACV and within our subsidiary businesses nationwide.

"Offering our people a small reward for getting vaccinated is a small price to pay to keep our people safe, our members safe, and help the broader community.

"This is a tangible way to contribute to the safe re-opening of our society and economy within Australia and the rest of the world."

The statement says RACV's primary focus remains on ensuring the safety of employees, members and customers while continuing to provide services on the road, in people's homes, and its resorts and club facilities.
