The announcement from Premier Daniel Andrews that Victoria's lockdown would be extended past this Thursday means the start of the Central Highlands football and netball leagues' finals series will likely be pushed back further.

The leagues have currently missed two consecutive weekends, which were meant to be weeks one and two of the finals.
That now leaves five weekends to complete four weeks of finals, up until Sunday, October 3, the last date the leagues will consider playing grand finals.
Under AFL Victoria guidelines, if one to three consecutive weeks are missed, the season may recommence at the next scheduled round at the discretion of the league.
That means the Central Highlands can miss this weekend, which seems likely, and return on either September 11 or 12 without having to allow clubs to train for seven days.
From now, if the leagues miss two more consecutive weekends, that puts them into the four to six consecutive weeks lost bracket.
In this case, the season shall recommence at the next scheduled round following a minimum seven-day training period at the discretion of the league.
That would mean the earliest date the leagues could return would be September 25.
As has been the case through all lockdowns, anything can happen, so this is a worst case scenario.
As it stands, all eight teams in each grade remain in the finals.
If the season can not recommence by September 11 and instead returns on September 18, teams that finished seventh and eighth would be dropped out of the finals and the top eight would become a top six.
For each weekend missed after September 11, a further two teams would be eliminated each week.
