McSweyn will compete in the 1500m at the Diamond League finals in Zurich at 4:47am on Friday morning (AEST).
The former Ballarat Clarendon College enters the most significant annual meet on the athletics calendar in good form.
McSweyn won gold in the 1500m at the Brussels Diamond League meet last week, adding to his list of podium finishes since making the Olympics final.
The 26-year-old has made a name for himself as one of the most entertaining runners on the circuit, often pushing the pace and demanding his competitors to keep up with him.
However, he will face stiff competition in the final.
The Australian record holder will again line up alongside Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who won gold at the Olympics, and Kenya's Timothy Cheruiyot.
The winner will pocket $40,000 (AUD).
