A MAN is with police and ambulance personnel after climbing down from a tree in Maryborough.
The man, who had been in the tree since before 1.45pm on Monday afternoon, descended the tree as a police air wing aircraft arrived to assist.
Police worked to move on the crowd of bystanders that had gathered to watch the scene at the Napier Street park.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said units were responding to reports of a man stuck up a tree in Maryborough.
"Emergency services were called to check on the man at the Napier Street park about 1.45pm," the spokesperson said.
"Search and Rescue Unit members are on their way to the scene to assist."
The park has been closed while the operation is underway.
Emergency services are working to rescue a person trapped about 12 metres up a tree in Maryborough.
CFA, Victoria Police, SES and Fire Rescue Victoria crews were called to the scene in Napier Street at about 2pm on Monday.
"The person is approximately 12 metres up a tree and we are looking at conducting a high-angle rescue," a CFA spokesperson said.
An FRV spokesperson said the condition of the person is unknown at this stage.
"We are send an FRV high-angle rescue crew from Ballarat due to the person being some height in the tree," the FRV spokesperson said.
"Currently a Maryborough brigade and SES unit are on scene and the condition of patient is unknown at this stage."
