Plumpton trainer Patrick Payne has Double You Tee among 38 nominations for the Ballarat Turf Club time-honoured spring feature.
The seven-year-old has been prominent in selected spring country cups, with a second in the 2019 Ballarat Cup and two minor placings in the Kyneton Cup.
This would be an ideal stepping stone to that type of campaign again.
Double You Tee resumed from a winter break at Caulfield on August 28 and has trialled once since.
Ciaron Maher and David Eustace have six entries for the Gold Nugget, which has had its stakemoney doubled this year, and Anthony and Sam Freedman have four.
Black Sail from the Maher-Eustace barn is another country cups campaigner among entries.
He resumed at Cranbourne after last season winning the Ballan Cup at Geelong and being placed in the Benalla, Kilmore and Woodfoord (Warrnambool) Cups.
Weights will declared on Wednesday, with fields finalised on Thursday.
