CHFL president Doug Hobson told The Courier premier Daniel Andrews' roadmap out of lockdown announcement on Sunday would be of interest for the leagues.
"We're just waiting to see what happens in this space. It (lockdown) has added another dimension," he said.
"We're just waiting to see what the actual roadmap is Sunday and possibly what might be talked about next week.
"That's one dynamic we're looking at, but we also realise too if we do happen to get back playing again, and a big if in that, is exactly what that'll mean, because a lot of our players come from Ballarat."
Buninyong and Learmonth are the only two clubs that are located in the City of Ballarat.
The remaining 15 clubs and their players that do not live in Ballarat and Melbourne are free to train.
However, a large number of these members live within the City of Ballarat boundary.
"Our first (aim) is to keep going to where we're going to get to, either having a preliminary final or a grand final," Hobson said.
"We're realistic enough to know that the environment around us isn't helping any of those causes as well at the moment."
Hobson said that following other leagues and calling an end to the season had not crossed his mind as of yet.
"My thoughts (are) if we're able to, we play," he said.
"Until we know we definitely can not, it hasn't at all.
"It is getting difficult for a lot of clubs because they haven't played for a large amount of time.
"It would have been nice to get a finish for all eight clubs in the top eight ...
"If we can only just extract a grand final out of the year, that will be a plus."
