A man driving a stolen car has been arrested while trying to flee police overnight.

Police say they were on patrol when they observed a stolen silver Mitsubishi Pajero on Humffray Street North in Ballarat about 2.30am on Friday.
They then followed the car, with the driver fleeing the scene.

However, the police airwing was able to track the car from above as it headed into bushland near Nerrina.
The car then became bogged, while the helicopter circled above.
Officers on the ground located the stolen vehicle and arrested a 29-year-old man without incident.
The Ballarat East man was interviewed and charged with theft of motor vehicle, theft from motor vehicle and handle stolen goods.
He was bailed to appear before Ballarat Magistrates' Court on May 25, 2022.
Investigators have since established the Mitsubishi was stolen in Soldiers Hill on 14 September and has been involved in a string of alleged offending.
