She is among two late changes for the Australians.
Wehrung and Australian Gems under-19 captain Jade Melbourne replace Bec Allen and Maddi Rocci after initially being named as reserves.
Allen has forfeited her position owing to commitments in the WNBA and Europe, while Rocci has been ruled out because of an injury concern.
The call-ups provide Wehrung, who is from Korweinguboora, and Melbourne with their chance to make their debut for the national team.
Wehrung reprsented Australia internationally as a junior, but is yet to wear the green and gold at senior level.
The former Ballarat Rush representative plays with Adelaide Lightning in the WNBL and Bendigo Spirit in NBL1 South.
Opals head coach Paul Gorris is confident the girls will transition smoothly into the Opals set up.
"Abbey has always been a very consistent WNBL player and can play both ends of the floor.
"She is a good on ball defender and can shoot the three, so her versatility shows at both ends of the court," he said.
"Having coached both of these players it will be an easy transition for them both into the Opals team and I'm looking forward to getting started in Jordan."
The Opals play Chinese Taipei, Philippine and China in pool games this week.
Wehrung, 25, was a gold medallist as a junior with Australia's under-16 team at the 2011 FIBA Oceania Championships.
She then represented Australia at the 2012 FIBA World Under-17 Championships in the Netherlands.
The point guard also tasted success on the international stage in 2017 as a pivotal player for the Emerging Opals squad that took out gold at the World University Games.
Wehrung began her WNBL career with Canberra Capitals in 2014 before returning to Victoria to play with Bendigo Spirit in 2018. She joined Adelaide Lightning last year.
