Stephens has home-bred Ruby Wingate engaged in a Victoria Oaks heat at Bendigo on Saturday night.
The three-year-old filly has already ensured she will forever be a favourite of the Stephens family, having taken out the group 2 Alabar Home Grown Classic.
Ruby Wingate lines up in the second of two heats, in which she clashes with Oaks favourite Ladies In Red.
Ladies In Red spearheads a major presence in the heats by Cardigan trainer Emma Stewart, who has seven starters across the two heats.
While Ruby Wingate has not won since the feature in April, she has been conistently up on the pace, with her latest three runs being top three finishes against older horses.
Stephens said Ruby Wingate would need some luck in high quality company, but she was in prime condition for the assignment.
