CO-ORDINATORS of Organs of the Goldfields and other major events scheduled for late spring and summer across Ballarat and nearby regions hope to decide in coming days what type of programs they will be able to offer.

With the Ballarat Turf Club announcing plans for up to 5000 racegoers on course for the November 20 Ballarat Cup, it could pave the way for other major events to assess their own crowd numbers, but decisions will need to be made soon.
Organs of the Goldfields is one such major event scheduled for January that is still waiting to see what it can offer.

Assistant director Judy Houston said a meeting would be held this week to discuss plans going forward with the likelihood the event would be reduced in length from 10 days down to five, or potentially go online.
She said a decision would need to be made in terms of how and what tickets could be sold for indoor events which was causing some concerns for organisers.
"We've been walking towards next January, but there is a thought it might be too risky to attempt a 10-day festival, so we've planned out what would be a five-day festival where we could repeat various events on the course of the day, so if we are limited by what numbers we can have inside, we can space it out somewhat," she said.
"We had a meeting this week on Tuesday night and right now we're still to come to a conclusion, so we'll meet again next week and see what we can come up with."
Ms Houston said there was also a possibility that concerts could be filmed in St Patrick's Cathedral or other churches in the district which could make an online experience.
She said the event traditionally ran at cost-neutral, but if less tickets were able to be sold, it would lose money without other means of support.
Another event which hangs in the balance is ChillOut which is planning to a series of events in coming weeks leading into its 25th year.
It is hoped that a number of pre-ChillOut events will be able to go ahead, these include the ChillOut Women's Dance at the Daylesford Town Hall, which was initially scheduled for October 16 but has now been pushed back to November 13.
Full details on other events including the ChillOut Comedy Gala, which hopes to run in Castlemaine on October 30 and the dance party at the Bluestone in Ballarat are at this stage planned to go ahead. The festival itself hopes to run over the March long weekend.
