Residents from postcodes 3350 to 3358 and 3363 will be able to book the $1 tickets online as part of Sovereign Hill's 'We Love You Ballarat' campaign.
"This is about saying thank you to Ballarat ... for your support during lockdown and the fact we all came together to get through the last lockdown so as to allow places like Sovereign Hill to be open and our other tourism partners, hospitality industry and business to get back in to the swing of things," said Sovereign Hill president Craig Fletcher.
Chief executive Sara Quon said not only would the $1 ticket offer be a thanks for support, having more locals visit on Thursdays and Fridays would allow staff and volunteers to practice new activities and share time with their community.
All attractions except the underground mine tour will be running as usual and while density restrictions are in place Ms Quon said she could not foresee site capacity being an issue.
"We just want to celebrate our reopening with our local community," Ms Quon said. "If you've finished home schooling for the day, bring the kids in for a couple of hours, or come in for lunch and have a 'best in the colony' sausage roll and enjoy spring time in Sovereign Hill."
IN OTHER NEWS
While Melbourne remains in lockdown and unable to travel, Sovereign Hill is open four days a week from Thursday to Sunday. Ms Quon said once Melbourne restrictions were eased the attraction would open six days a week and hoped to reopen seven days at some point next year.
"COVID has been tough for so many," Ms Quon said. "As it has so often before, the Ballarat community really pulled together through our recent lockdown. This is an opportunity for Sovereign Hill, as part of the community, to be a place where people can reconnect and enjoy themselves. It is such an important time to connect with friends, families and loved ones and Sovereign Hill is the perfect, local place to do this."
Tickets go on sale at 5pm on Wednesday. Tickets must be booked online at bookings.sovereignhill.com.au and in line with Victorian Government COVIDSafe guidelines, visitors' identity and addresses will be checked on arrival.
