Daylesford Rotary is taking this year's art show to the streets.
In a first in its 38-year history, the Daylesford Art Show will feature a month-long, COVID-safe audio-visual experience in shops, cafes and restaurants along Vincent Street.
Visitors will be able to take a self-guided tour along Vincent Street, stop at participating shops and scan a QR code to see and hear about the artist and painting.
They will be able to enter the shop and see the original painting before repeating the experience at the next participating shop.
Daylesford Rotary Club member Tim Cansfield-Smith said organisers and artists were really pleased and excited to be able to hold the art show, called 'Art on Vincent' in this unique format.
COVID-19 restrictions have made the traditional art show in the Daylesford Town Hall impossible for the second time.
"The real interest is the fact people can walk up and down Daylesford's main street in their own time and own pace," Mr Cansfield-Smith said.
"We hope they will go into the shops and support the businesses."Tim Cansfield-Smith
'Art on Vincent' highlights the artistic talent of the central Victoria region and raises funds to support rotary community projects.
Exhibiting artists are from Ballarat, Castlemaine and the Hepburn Shire. There are 30 paintings spread across 15 Vincent Street shops. These paintings can be purchased.
Mr Cansfield-Smith invited all central and western Victorians to be a part of the art show.
"It's easy. All they need to do is come to Daylesford. They will see signage on participating shops and the QR code," he said.
"As they walk up and down the street they can learn about the painting and pop into one of our wonderful retail outlets."
In another first, the art show will include entries in the Hepburn Swiss Italian Festa Central Victorian Landscape Prize of which there are more than 160 entries.
'Art on Vincent' starts on the Melbourne Cup long weekend on Friday, October 20 and ends on November 30.
The innovative new QRushMedia service has made the QR code feature possible and includes Auslan signing.
