Between 20mm and 40mm is forecast, according to Weatherzone, with thunderstorms possible this afternoon and into the evening.
Most of the rain is expected to come from 4pm onwards, the start of a wet end to the week for the city.

Sporadic rain is expected on Thursday, while 10-20mm is forecast for Friday.
In September Ballarat recorded 67.6mm of rain, slightly down on the average of 71.1mm.
In the 12 days of October so far there has been 25.2mm of rain.
