On the back of announcements on the Red Hot Summer Tour and SummerSalt, Live Nation has revealed the Australian Rock Collective will present Neil Young's masterpiece, Harvest, live in concert at Her Majesty's Theatre on Sunday February 6 2022.
The tour is in celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of Young's seminal album.
The Australian Rock Collective, more succinctly known as ARC is a dream team of the nation's musicians. It consists of Kram, drummer and vocalist of Spiderbait; Mark Wilson, bassist, pianist, and back vocalist of Jet; Darren Middleton, Powerfinger's guitarist and songwriter; and Davey Lane, known for his guitar work with You Am I, The Pictures, and The Wrights.
The group was acclaimed for its previous tours focusing on The Beatles' Abbey Road.
Critics raved about ARC's Beatles tribute.
Tone Deaf, a site dedicated to Australian music, praised the Abbey Road show.
"The musos on stage do something The Beatles never managed: play the album (and more) authentically, brilliantly, and with obvious respect and love," it said.
According to The Music, another authority on the local scene, the combination of ARC and the penultimate Beatles album was excellent.
"(The show involved) some of Australia's best musicians playing some of the greatest songs of all time," it said.
Young's Harvest was released in February 1972. It was his fourth studio album and it would go on to become his most successful. Best known for the single, Heart of Gold, other much-loved tracks include Old Man, Alabama, A Man Needs A Made, Words, and The Needle and The Damage Done.
The highly-regarded British magazine, Classic Rock, holds Harvest in great esteem.
"Harvest is the album that came to define Americana - literally where rock and roll goes to Nashville," it said.
Influential online authority, Guitar.com, also endorsed the record in no uncertain terms.
"He had a 'bad back' and 'didn't know what else to do'," it said.
"(However), as a result, Neil Young created an album of simple low-key tunes that defined folky rockin' and home recording, and continues to reap rewards 50 years later."
In an initiative likely to result in great thrills, once ARC has performed Harvest in the show's first half, it will return to the stage for a second half consisting of a selection of additional revered Young tracks.
Kram, otherwise know as Mark Anthony Maher, struggled to hide his enthusiasm when discussing the impending tour.
"I've been listening to this album for many years. It's always been a great friend to me," Kram said.
"It's at once an iconic solo work and a great collaboration. I think Neil Young embodies these two musical qualities co-existing together.
"Who else could combine band sessions in a barn with an acoustic performance from a live show, hanging with Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor and the London Symphony Orchestra all on the same record?
"He is one of the great artists of our time, and to be able to perform his legendary album live in its entirety will be amazing for all of us in ARC, as fans and musicians alike."
For the most devoted fans, there will be a limited number of meet-and-greet VIP experiences. This special arrangement includes a reserved seat in the first 15 rows of the stalls, a band meet-and-greet, including a photo opportunity with a professional photographer; and autographed tour poster; and a commemorative VIP lanyard.
