After winning the Golden Slipper in 2010, the Melbourne Cup in 2012 and the Caulfield Cup at the weekend, Prebble finds himself on the edge of history.
A dominant ride on Incentivise gave the 44-year-old his fifth Group 1 win of the spring racing carnival.
"You just dream of this sort of carnival," he told racing.com.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"You win one Group 1 and you've had a great carnival, so going to win five and still there's a fair bit of the carnival to go, it's exciting.
"I'm a bit humbled by it, because obviously a few things went in my favour in a sense, a few things happened, that's what racing's about, you be there at the right time and luck can help you.
"We got the suitable rides, and we gave them a nice ride and they won.
"I have to pinch myself for sure, in a sense."
Prebble will ride Jamie Richards-trained Probabeel in the Cox Plate and is confident of the mare's chances, having combined for a win in the Might and Power Stakes a fortnight ago.
"I think she's really peaking for this race," Prebble said. "I worked her this morning, her work was spot on. She's had a wonderful prep coming into the Cox Plate.
"We're in the lap of the gods with the weather, she doesn't really like the wet ground, that's our biggest hurdle.
"I'm happy with the gate, and I just think if she gets the footing that she appreciates, I think she's the one to beat."
Prebble has partnered with four-time Group 1 winner Probabeel at her past three starts this spring.
"She's got a very good turn of foot," he said.
"Obviously, I'll be mindful of that, I'll be just trying to probably ride her a touch conservatively so I can use that key asset when I need it, because it's a good kick when she gives it to you."
