Workers will return to the site tomorrow to begin the process of installing critical signalling infrastructure and foundations for the temporary boom gates.
READ MORE:
Works will include curbing works on the Ararat Street and Doveton Crescent ends of the crossing, crib fencing works for the level crossing, and general signalling installation.
A splitter island will also be installed on Lydiard Street to prevent right hand turns into Ararat Street from Lydiard Street.
"Works at Lydiard Street crossing are set to ramp up over the coming weeks as crews finalise preparations for the installation of temporary boom gates," said public transport minister Ben Carroll.
"These works will ensure that the road is ready to re-open to traffic as soon and as safely as possible."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Crews have already undertaken non-destructive digging, service location and cabling works at the level crossing to prepare it for the works to be undertaken in the coming weeks.
Impacted residents and businesses will be kept informed on the progress of these works as they are carried out.
