Families from Black Hill Primary and St James Parish schools were notified over the weekend that the schools would be closed on Monday for deep cleaning and contact tracing to occur.

Black Hill Primary had two COVID cases attend school on Tuesday October 19, Wednesday October 20, and Thursday October 21.

"School will close Monday as a precaution to identify students or staff who were on site on those days and may have had close contact with the cases," principal Donna Bishop wrote to families.

"Once that review has been completed we will let you know if you or your child has been identified as a primary close contact."

Most primary close contacts from the school have already been contacted.

"If we do not contact you by October 25 to say that you or your child has been identified as a primary close contact you or your child should return to school on Tuesday October 26."

Families at St James Parish School in Sebastopol sent out similar advice after a COVID case was confirmed to have attended school on Tuesday October 19 and Wednesday October 20.

St James is also scheduled to reopen on Tuesday.

At Federation TAFE's SMB campus, bricklaying students and staff were also alerted to a positive COVID case who attended the bricklaying department in building Q on Monday October 18 from 9am to 2pm, and Tuesday October 19 from 9am to 12 noon.

"Safety of our students, staff and uni community is our highest priority," Federation TAFE said in a statement.

"We have robust procedures in place under our critical incident management plan which has been enacted immediately to minimise the impact to our staff, students and their family.

These are the latest in a line of school closures in the first weeks of term four.

Alfredton Primary School was shut for a week following eight COVID cases among its junior students, including one who had to be hospitalised, and a one-day closure of Delacombe Primary School. Students at Phoenix P-12 Community College and year nines at Woodman's Hill Secondary College also reverted to short periods of remote learning after positive cases at their schools.
