Two males have been charged after an alleged aggravated burglary and dramatic police chase across Ballarat in a stolen car on Monday morning.
According to police, a number of people entered a Stafford Court home about 8am as the occupants of the Lake Wendouree home slept.
The offenders allegedly stole car keys for two Mercedez Benz's before fleeing in the cars, which were seen being driven in Ballarat a short time later.
Police units on the ground were assisted by the police Airwing to attempt to intercept one of the cars, a white Mercedes SUV, as it allegedly drove erratically and at speed across the city.
Witnesses saw the car allegedly travelling at high speeds through busy intersections, crossing onto the wrong side of the road and into oncoming traffic.
Police attempted to stop the car by deploying stop sticks in various locations, including on Sturt Street and near Eastern Oval.
About 10am the car pulled over in Spencer Street, Canadian, and police were able to apprehend the two males who had been travelling in the car.
One of the males was a 15-year-old Ballarat East boy and the other a 19-year-old Wendouree man.
Police from the Criminal Investigation Unit interviewed the two males about the chase and other matters throughout the day.
Both were charged with a string of offences, including aggravated burglary, theft of motor car and driving offences.
It was expected they would appear before a bail justice on Monday evening and appear in court at a later date.
The other Mercedes was found dumped on Larter Street in Ballarat East, with the driver yet to be located as of Monday evening.
