The two-day event across November 27 and 28 was set to feature 30 category championship races celebrating the country's finest cyclo-cross racers.
"Due to the inability of members from all states and territories being able to attend, a decision was made with Corporate Cycling and Voga Cycling to cancel the National Championships element of the weekend," AusCycling said in a statement.
"But while the green and gold jersey is not up for grabs, we still encourage all those in and around Melbourne to get out on the bike and support the Cross4aCause cyclo-cross event to raise funds for MND Victoria.
"We appreciate the understanding in what has been a difficult year and look forward to loading up the CX calendar in 2022."
The championships had already been pushed back once when Victoria's most-recent COVID outbreak began in late July.
The Cross4aCause charity event will involve a mix of cyclo-cross events, live music, food and other attractions.
The event will be held to raise funds for MND Victoria in honour of late Creswick volunteer Brian Chatham, who lost his battle with the disease late last year.
The 2022 Road National Championships will still take place in Ballarat, with a race schedule to be released soon.
