Cherries will be affected by a price hike growers are warning about ahead of the festive season. An NSW cherry farmer said the lack of international pickers could mean the fruit won't get off the trees in time. Farmer Guy Gatea said if he's getting $10 a kilo for his cherries, he'd assume the consumer will be paying $20-plus. Experts predict the price increase could occur to more fresh food for similar reasons.
