Ballarat has jumped to the top of the Creswick and District Community Bank senior mixed Pennant with a dominant 9-72 to 0-32 win over St Augustines at the weekend.

Players were met with some trying conditions, consistent rain leading into the weekend making the grass courts a tough surface and wind adding to the challenges on the day.

Ballarat's Jye Gourlay and Joel Fitzgerald were big winners over St Augustines' Dominic Afribo and Harry Pryse-Smith in round three 8-1.
Jacquie Chester and Jaslyn Skilbeck repeated the feat in round five, 8-1 winners over Anna Pryse-Smith and Maxine Ryan.
St Augustines drew closer in rounds seven and nine, going down 7-8 and 6-8.
Creswick claimed a tight win over Miners Rest 5-59 to 4-53.
Creswick held just a one-game lead after eight rounds, with both sides exchanging wins throughout the day.
Rick Andrews and Holly Gleeson defeated Simon Remington and Seona Beacham in the final round 8-3, helping Creswick to a six-game win.
Smeaton were too strong for Lawrence, prevailing 6-56 to 3-49.
Two games separated the two after three rounds and the game remained that way for most of the day, both sides trading blows.
Smeaton's James Maher and Elyse Maggiori claimed an 8-0 win over Frank Mitchell and Jessica Santurini in round eight to give it a 14-game lead and put the result out of reach for Lawrence.
Mark Williams and Helen Rae defeated Rod Male and Lauren Kinnersly 8-1 in the final round to give Lawrence a consolation prize.
Mt Prospect were big winners over Bacchus Marsh, 8-69 to 1-34.
The home side got off to a flying start, winning the opening four rounds 8-1, 8-1, 8-2 and 8-1.
Bacchus Marsh evened the ledger from then on, losing 5-8, 7-8, 2-8 and 7-8 in the next four games before Benjamin White and Helen Love defeated Scott Mann and Jennie Rogers 8-5 in the final round.
Creswick and District Community Bank senior mixed Pennant coordinator Peter Bertoncini praised all players for their efforts in trying conditions.
"For a second week in a row players challenged the rain and came out the victors," he said.
"It was such a bonus to be able to play on the natural green courts considering the rain we've had over the week and the level of tennis on display is already of a high quality given it's just round two."
