Butler said he didn't expect the win and was originally planning on not attending the count.

"I was actually planning on going to my graduation tonight, so wasn't expecting it at all," he said.
With four games to play Butler sat on just 10 votes, five behind teammate Ryan Maher and a further two behind Rokewood-Corindhap's Hunter McDonald.
"Mouse (Maher) actually won the club best and fairest by two or three votes," Butler said.
"At the start I was thinking why didn't we bring Mouse instead of me."
Three-straight three-vote games from round 11 to 15 helped seal the deal for Butler, who ended the count two votes clear of McDonald who raced to 17 votes after eight rounds and then did not poll again.
Maher and Carngham-Linton's Brody Benson rounded out the top three on 16 votes a-piece.
In the under-15 league best and fairest, Buninyong's Samuel Battistella claimed the top award with 33 votes in a high vote count.
Amazingly, he polled three votes in his side's first nine games to sit on 27 votes after 10 rounds.
He had company at the top of the leaderboard, however, with Springbank's James Rieniets just two votes behind after 10 rounds.
Rieniets polled three votes in round 11 to take the lead.
Consecutive best on ground performances to finish the season by Battistella sealed the deal, however, finishing three votes clear of Rieniets.
Ballan's Thomas Cox rounded out the top three with 28 votes.
Battistella also claimed the leading goalkicker award with 56 majors in 13 games, averaging 4.31 per game.
Gordon's Lachlan Reynolds claimed the under-18 goalkicking award, finishing with 49 majors from eight games, averaging 6.12 per game.
