In a letter released to teachers, competition officer Julie Wiseman said the confirmed case attended Founders Theatre on Federation University's Mount Helen campus twice on Saturday, between 8am and 11am and between 6.30pm and 8pm, both times as an audience member.
The statement said Royal South Street was following all Department of Health directives to contact volunteers, staff and contractors.

"However, in addition to this, we of course wish to advise all of our competitors, teachers and families to ensure their safety and wellbeing as obviously care for our competitors, families and dance schools is paramount," the letter said.
"Please advise your families if they were at Founders Theatre to get tested. RSS staff and volunteers have had their COVID test and are waiting for the negative result to be received."
In a statement to The Courier, a Federation University Australia spokesperson said the theatre had been cleaned.
"The theatre has been cleaned regularly as part of the COVID Safe plan for the event and a further disinfectant clean was carried out after we received the exposure notification," the statement said.
Royal South Street chair Peter Zala said all the relevant policies and procedures were place.
"We do have a COVID safety plan... We've got all the relative procedures in place and they're in accord with the prevailing government regulations. We've done everything as we should and will continue to do," he said.
"It's business as usual for us at the moment. We'll just continue to keep operating in accordance with the rules and regulations."
Under the latest advice from the state government, a confirmed case must quarantine at home for 10 days while their household contacts must isolate for seven days if they are fully vaccinated or 14 days if they are not.
Social, workplace or education contacts of positive cases are recommended to get a COVID test and isolate until they receive a negative result while other contacts may receive advice directly from the Department of Health if they have attended high-risk public venues where positive cases have visited.
