Ballarat's most outstanding young people were honoured at the City of Ballarat Youth Awards on Friday night.

Hosted by Ballarat-raised comedian Ethan Cavanagh, the awards ceremony was livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube and featured live performances from some of Ballarat's best young talent.

More than 100 young people living, working or attending school in Ballarat were nominated across 11 categories. The award winners will be further recognised for their efforts at a civic ceremony on December 6 at Ballarat Town Hall.
Jerrica John took home the top gong in the 12-17 age group, along with the Youth Volunteer award while Bradley Woods won the major prize for the 18-25 group.

Gabriel Gervasoni won the STEM award with the Group Project award taken out by Aviva Channells and Matilda Myers for their Hire a Grandkid initiative. Ella Matthews took home the Leadership in Sport award, Wayne Scanlon and Padma Giri won the Adult Ally awards.
