A severe weather warning has been issued for areas south-east of Ballarat.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours.
EARLIER:
Areas north of Ballarat are on alert as severe thunderstorms cross Victoria, already belting towns including Maryborough.
Large hail stones and heavy rain has been reported in areas stretching between Ballarat and Maryborough including Majorca, between Talbot and Carisbrook.
There are also reports of glass being smashed by the hail.
Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula was also hit hard this afternoon while more storms are crossing Metropolitan Melbourne to the east.
A severe weather warning has been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology for damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours.
Areas impacted include Daylesford and Bacchus Marsh.
Although Ballarat is not in the warning area at the moment, there is a chance more storms may develop over the rest of the afternoon and evening.
It comes as Ballarat topped 30 degrees on Wednesday afternoon, with another warm day forecast for tomorrow. Storms are also likely to develop on Thursday afternoon.
