Ballarat has recorded 11 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of active cases in the city to 47.
It is a big jump in new cases after five were recorded in the city on Friday and when the statistics showed 35 active cases.
Meanwhile in surrounding local government areas, three new cases were recorded in Golden Plains bringing the number of active cases there to 15.
Two new cases were recorded in Hepburn, bringing active cases to 13 and three new cases were recorded in Moorabool, seeing active cases increase to 55.
No new cases were recorded in Pyrenees, though there is one active case in the shire.
In a statement, the Department of Health has confirmed that there are currently no known cases of the Omicron variant in Victoria.
"Victoria is maintaining enhanced quarantine arrangements for overseas arrivals to protect the state from the new Omicron COVID-19 variant of concern until more is known about the strain."
Of the 1365 new cases, it also confirmed three further cases linked to the mass gathering protests in Melbourne CBD in November bringing the total number of cases to 39.
"Of these cases, it is known only one case was fully vaccinated and three cases had received one dose of vaccine.
"Three people have been admitted to hospital and one is in intensive care.
"Public health investigations have determined that 14 cases attended the mass gatherings while infectious, with 22 cases deemed to have possibly acquired COVID-19 during the protests. Investigations are continuing."
The department urged anyone with even the mildest COVID-19 symptoms to get tested.

Victoria has recorded 1365 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24-hours, while a further nine lives have been lost.
The Department of Health releases the data earlier this morning and it shows there are not 14,383 active cases in the state.
It comes after 67,545 tests were conducted yesterday.
Meanwhile, 4094 vaccine doses were administered at state-run clinics on Friday, bringing the vaccination rate of people aged 12+ in Victoria to 91 per cent.
While nine people died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, 288 people remain in hospital.
Of these people, 44 are in intensive care and 20 are on ventilators.
The number of new cases in Ballarat have not been released yet.

Yesterday it was reported that five people were diagnosed with the virus in Ballarat, bringing the total number of active cases in the city to 35.
In shires surrounding Ballarat, there were five new cases in Moorabool (53 active), two in Golden Plains (12 active), one in Hepburn (11 active) and one in Pyrenees (one active).
