A pedophile whose "appalling" attacks included locking a victim in a car so he couldn't escape has been jailed for at least six years and six months.

Alex Chak Lau also broke into the home of the same boy who had fallen asleep while playing a video game and awoke to find himself being molested.
The 50-year-old, from Buff Point on the NSW Central Coast, pleaded guilty to 18 charges including sexual intercourse with a child, indecent assault, aggravated breaking and entering, and detaining a person with intent.
The now-divorced pedophile also asked the judge to take into account a further four offences.
His victims were two girls and six boys, with the offending occurring between 2008 and 2016 in Sydney and on the Central Coast.
In the NSW District Court on Tuesday, Judge Sharron Norton jailed him for 10 years with a non-parole period of six years and six months.
"This was a prolonged period of offending against a number of victims which highlights the need for specific deterrence," she said.
Children needed to be protected, not exploited, and should be safe in their own homes, while visiting other homes and while getting a lift.
"This is appalling behaviour and such behaviour must be treated seriously."
Lau's barrister contended he voluntarily stopped abusing children two years before he was caught.
Lau told a psychiatrist he realised it was not good for him and was "not the right thing to do".
But the Crown didn't accept he had stopped, although agreeing there was no evidence of any more offending since 2016.
When arrested, he was in possession of a storage disc containing two videos of child abuse material.
"The court accepts he has some remorse and he realises - in his own words - he has a problem that needs to be fixed," the judge said.
Some offences were aggravated by occurring in the victim's home or in the presence of other sleeping children.
When Lau broke into the home of a boy who had fallen asleep, he not only restrained the boy but stated there was something wrong with him.
"It was not the victim who had anything wrong with him," the judge said.
She said it was concerning that Lau did not believe he needs any treatment. But she noted he had agreed, if considered necessary, to take part in programs for sex offenders.
