In four weeks, under changed pandemic restrictions, the choir has assembled a program with partner music groups such as Creswick Brass Band, vocal ensemble VOX and University of the Third Age's recorder group in a long-standing Anglican tradition.
Cathedral Christ the King will host Festival of Nine Carols and Lessons on Sunday evening.
The tradition, popularly associated with King's College in Cambridge, played out in Ballarat on short notice to about 150 people under tight COVID rules.
Ms Allen said it was exciting to continue the Christmas tradition once more amid uncertainty - including how many people to expect under changing restrictions.

"You never know how things are going to go on short notice, but we've had lots of friends and have been able to rally the troops," Ms Allen said.
"We know the festival does bring happiness and joy to the community. That is an important part of the work we do at the cathedral."
The festival matches music to the traditional nine readings. Ten-year-old soloist Ruby Atkins will feature as a guest treble to open with Once in Royal David's City.
