Two-time North Ballarat premiership winner Daniel Jones has joined the club.
Jones, a best-and-fairest winner with the Ballarat Football Netball League club, joins former North Ballarat teammates and Crows co-coaches Brendan Howard and Mitch Jenkins at Beaufort.
The trio each played in North Ballarat's back-to-back premierships in 2013 and 2014 and now face the task of helping Beaufort climb back up the ladder.
Beaufort finished the 2021 season 15th on the ladder with two wins to its name.
Jenkins said the trio playing together again was a big reason why Jones made the move.
"I always hoped that Daniel, Brendan and I would play together at some point towards the end of our careers," he said.
"That was part of the big appeal for him to come out and play together again, which is huge for us and our group just to have another guy with so much experience for the group to learn off."
Jones enjoyed another strong season for North Ballarat in 2021, kicking 10 goals from his nine games and named in the side's best players four times as it finished the campaign undefeated and on top of the ladder.
He was a playing assistant coach under first-year leader Brendan McCartney, and will take up the midfield coaching role at Beaufort.
"He's had a big impact on the group already, just the way he delivers messages and all the knowledge he has," Jenkins said.
"He'll predominantly play in the midfield but he's shown he's got the ability to play half-back but also go forward and hit the scoreboard as well, which will be a big asset for us with his foot skills."
Jenkins said the group has begun its pre-season strongly.
"The numbers have been really good on the track which is encouraging," he said.
"It helps that we've had nine top-age under-18s from last (season) that'll have their first year as part of the senior group which is huge for us."
