The city is forecast for a top of 23°C on Wednesday and 26°C on Thursday and Friday.
However up to 20 millimetres of rain is also expected to fall each day along with potentially severe thunderstorms.
Although no official warnings have been issued yet, they are likely to be as the days progress.
A road weather alert has already been issued for all suburbs of Melbourne, and could be extended to parts of regional Victoria.
