THIEVES have put the livelihood of an Alfredton business owner in jeopardy, after stealing his $30,000 equipment trailer on Wednesday night. The trailer was stolen from outside David Clarke's Parkview Drive home between 10pm Wednesday and 5am yesterday.Mr Clarke operates the Jim's Mowing Ballarat north-east franchise. It is believed the thieves unhitched the trailer from his work ute, before stealing the trailer. It contained a brand new ride-on mower, two push mowers, whipper snippers and other equipment."I haven't even had the ride-on mower for two weeks," Mr Clarke said."I've contacted Westag, but they can't get a replacement one in for me until February or March next year."Ballarat Police were at the property investigating yesterday morning. Mr Clarke said the theft had made life hard, in the lead-up to Christmas. He said he was desperate to get the trailer back, unable to do anything until his equipment is returned. * Anyone who may have seen the trailer being towed in the Alfredton area on Wednesday night is urged to call police on 5336 6000.
