BALLARAT’S Trades Hall raised the Western Sahara Flag high above Camp Street on Monday, in a show of solidarity with the Sahrawi people. The Ballarat Trades and Labour Council used the symbol to show support for the Sahrawi people on the 36th anniversary of their republic. Trades Hall secretary Paul Clempson said their predicament over a UN negotiated vote of self-determination was similar to that faced by workers around the world. “We are supporting the move because the Sahrawi people are being unfairly treated, and being manipulated and dominated by the Moroccans.”
