SPRING racing fashion was on display last night at a fundraiser for Breastcancer in City/Country.Almost 200 people packed The Alexandria at the fashion parade and there wasn't a dry eye in the house when cancer survivor Colleen Thompson shared her inspirational story of how cancer had affected her family. The passionate advocate for raising awareness about breast cancer has embarked on a new project, to open a cancer resource centre for people in Ballarat."Ideally, I want to see it open on January 1 2009, but we're going to need a lot of support from the community to make this happen," she said.Money raised from ticket sales and raffle tickets will go towards the centre.Mrs Thompson also received almost $5000 from the Ballarat Foundation last week to help kick-start her dream. But the night wasn't just about raising cancer awareness.Local women let down their hair and sipped bubbly as models showed the latest fashion for the spring racing carnival.Soft, romantic, feminine dresses floated down the runway, matched with killer heels.* If you want to help BICC fund a cancer resource centre contact Colleen Thompson 0409 049157.
