THE BALLARAT Gold Museum Society has celebrated its 20th anniversary.Since 1991, the society’s volunteers have worked behind the scenes at the museum, cataloguing, researching and preserving the thousands of collection items on display. The group marked its milestone yesterday at a meeting of its current and past members.Current president Roy Taylor said enthusiasm among the volunteers remained as strong as it had been when the society first formed.“In recent times, we have been able to lift our numbers to 80,” Mr Taylor said.“Not a large number, but enough to fill our present needs.”The society’s members volunteer at the museum every day, meeting and greeting visitors and providing daily tours of the museum.
