WITH one month to go until the 20th Meredith Music Festival, the line-up for her sister event, Golden Plains, was released this morning.Headlining the fifth Golden Plains at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre in March next year are Joanna Newsom, Architecture in Helsinki, The Middle East, Os Mutantes, Cosmic Psychos and Graveyard Train.Although no Ballarat acts feature this year, festival organisers have managed to attract international acts such as Britain's Pulled Apart By Horses, Mount Kimbie, Justin Townes Earle and Tennessee's Magic Kids. But the festival isn't short of small-town folk, with quirky rock lifers from Warnambool Airbourne also taking to the stage.Padding out the bill are Wildbirds and Peacedrums, J-Wow, Wavves, Best Coast, Hawkwind, Boy and Bear, Imelda May, Bamboo Music DJs, Brain Children and World's End Press.Golden Plains is one of the few festivals still proud to be completely devoid of commercial sponsors, there's no commercial signage on site and no market stalls.Organisers describe it as a haven, where you can camp wherever you like, bring almost everything and anything if you want — even a couch — and plant it in the Amphitheatre for the weekend, and soak it all up.Golden Plains will be held from March 12 to 14, 2011.
