Jamie Rogers' family to bring body home from Canada

THE funeral for Ballarat man Jamie Rogers is expected to be held next Wednesday, as his family arranges to fly his body home from Canada.The 23-year-old died of hypothermia at the weekend after a night out.He was on a working holiday in Whistler, two hours north of Vancouver.According to the Canadian Pique Newsmagazine, Mr Rogers moved to Whistler in July.He had recently been working for Prior Snowboards, a company that makes snowboards and skis.Prior Snowboards owner Dean Thompson said everyone in the store was shaken up by Mr Rogers' death, describing him as extremely hardworking, punctual and good natured.Close friend Dale Johnston told the magazine Mr Rogers was a great friend with a passion for mountain biking and the most positive of attitude.``He always had a cheeky grin on his face and he was the kind of guy that even after knowing him for a few short months, he felt like an old friend. He will be sorely missed,'' he said.Mr Rogers' father Lindsay is currently in Canada, arranging for his body to be flown home.* For more details, see tomorrow's edition of The Courier.
