JAMES Hartnell's weekend began with promise. The Golden Point cricketer hit 65 not out in the thirds against Coronet City on Saturday. But later that night thieves broke into his car and stole $2000 worth of cricket gear. His car was parked outside his house in Forest St where the thieves broke the locks on his car with screwdrivers.Along with Mr Hartnell's cricket gear, a navigational system, iPod, sunglasses and screwdriver set was stolen."Out of everything that was stolen (the cricket gear) is what I want back the most," Mr Hartnell said."It took a good five years to get together."There were pads, bat, pretty much every thing you can imagine and a brand new cricket helmet I had bought that day."The car break-in was one of many over the weekend with Mr Hartnell's neighbours also having their vehicle broken into, and police being called to multiple other thefts on Sunday evening.Mr Hartnell did not realise his car had been broken into until about noon the next day."It is a selfish act, the stuff isn't covered by insurance because I only have third party," he said."It started as such a belter of a weekend."
