FIVE motorcyclists and one of their passengers were taken to hospital on Saturday evening after a collision on the Western Freeway at Darley.Ballarat Highway Patrol Sergeant Ross Humphrey said police were conducting an investigation into the incident, which occurred about a kilometre from Condons Lane about 5.30pm.Sergeant Humphrey said it had not yet been established whether an unmarked police car was involved in the collision. He said police had not been pursuing the motorcyclists before the crash, and it was not yet clear how the accident had occurred.Ambulance Victoria spokesman Ray Rowe said all six motorcyclists were taken to hospital in a stable condition.Mr Rowe said a man in his early 60s was the most badly hurt in the accident. He was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with a broken nose, abrasions and injuries to his hand and shoulder.A woman in her mid-50s was also taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital suffering back pain and abrasions.Of the four other motorcyclists, two were taken to the Footscray Hospital and two were taken to the Sunshine Hospital. It is believed the motorcyclists were members of the Satan’s Soldiers Motorcycle Club. The Western Freeway at Bacchus Marsh was closed for several hours as the road was cleared.
