Top-of-the-table effort earns Athlegen gold

BALLARAT manufacturer Athlegen has returned from Beijing with its own gold award.Athlegen was a major supplier during the Olympic Games, providing 60 health treatment tables for the Australian Olympic team.It was also one of 12 winners of the Telstra's Win Business Gold in China competition.Athlegen chief executive officer Stephen Falkiner said the company had supplied the past four Olympic Games, and the past two Commonwealth Games.He said the opportunity gave the company a boost as a partner of the Australian team."We earned the order to supply the equipment and were chosen from all the manufacturers around the world to supply them," Mr Falkiner said."It was very good publicity for us."Previously owned by a public company, Athlegen has now been returned to private ownership, with one of its original founders, Jeff Toering, returning as the company's business development manager.Mr Falkiner said the company had completely revamped its manufacturing facilities, with new equipment and high-level manufacturing software."It's going to make a big difference to our future ability to supply orders to the world market," he said.
