Tourist bus in car crash

21/11/2008 11:46:00 PM
A GROUP of Melbourne tourists travelling in a mini-bus was left shaken but uninjured after a collision in Gillies St yesterday afternoon.

The nine tourists were on a day-trip to Ballarat when the crash happened about 12.15pm.

The mini-bus and a blue Mitsubishi Lancer collided at the Lake Gardens Ave intersection.

The Mitsubishi was extensively damaged to the front and had to be towed away. The mini-bus also received minor damage.

One of the tourists yesterday said he was just happy everyone was okay.

He said the group had been sightseeing in Ballarat.

The other driver is believed to have received a minor injury to his hand.

Police Constable Nicole Davie said traffic was delayed for about 10 minutes after the crash.

Lake View resident Therese Hart said she had seen a number of crashes at the intersection, especially when there was heavy traffic.

"We need a green arrow (for people) turning right (into Lake Gardens Ave),'' she said.

"There's been lots of little accidents and near misses.''

Anyone who saw the crash can call Const Davie at the Ballarat Police Station on 5336 6000.

Meanwhile, a P-Plater collided with another car being driven by a P-Plater at the intersection of Sturt and Doveton streets about 12.20pm yesterday.

Both men appeared uninjured.

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
