EMBATTLED North Melbourne forward Lindsay Thomas kicked six goals in North Ballarat Roosters 24-point win against Geelong in VFL on Saturday morning.
Thomas put his steady goal-kicking repertoire on display with exciting snaps from the pack, lobs in from the boundary and important set shots at Simonds Stadium.
It was a pivotal win for the Selkirk Roosters to keep their season alive.
Roosters' skipper Marc Greig was chaired off in celebrations to mark his 200th VFL senior game in the final year of his playing career. Greig is the first Rooster to achieve the feat.
In an even first quarter, late goals to the Cats flattered their lead.
The Roosters hit back hard with a nine-goal to two second quarter and held tight from there.
Thomas booted three goals in the second quarter.
The match was not without drama.
Geelong's Daniel Menzel was stretchered from the ground seven minutes into the third, with a serious left knee injury but full extent of damage will remain unknown until he consults a surgeon. This was Menzel's comeback match from a right knee reconstruction.
Cat Allen Christiansen was stretchered off mid-way through the fourth quarter with concussion.

BALLARAT FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Jarrod Edwards has inspired Redan to a 17-point victory over North Ballarat City at Eureka Stadium on Sunday.
The Lions gained the ascendency early but were then pegged back by the home team.
However, the Lions maintained the composure to win 11.9 (75) to 6.16 (58).
East Point held on to win a thriller by three points against Melton South at the Melton Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
Inspired by full forward and playing coach Dan Jordan, the Kangaroos triumphed in a see-sawing battle.
Ballarat retained its top three status with a 37-point victory over Bacchus Marsh in a strange match at Alfredton Oval. The Swans led by five goals at quarter time, by just seven at half time and then accelerated away in the third term to lead by 35 points, even though there was no obvious wind advantage. The final quarter was even.
Lake Wendouree defeated Sebastopol by 10 goals, while Sunbury was to good for Melton, winning by 87 points.
