WHILE writer's block can have a profound impact on authors, few would think the phenomenon could affect a quilter. Maria Cook has been quilting for almost 20 years and her most recent quilt, titled "Writer's Block", has been selected to be exhibited in the World Quilt Show in New Hampshire."My quilt was selected from over 250 from around the world," she said.Mrs Cook's quilts are pieced together from the parts of vintage kimonos that she avidly collects."You used to find them coming in to Australia in packing containers wrapped around furniture and they were thrown out."It's now become quite fashionable for people to collect them so they're a lot harder to find."The quilt will be exhibited at the World Quilt Show in September, before being on display at the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza, the Pacific International Quilt Festival in California and the Greater Chicago Quilt Exposition.
