Every day more and more people discover the joy and enrichment photography can bring to their lives.BALLARAT'S arts community has received an enormous boost with the announcement of the prestigious Ballarat International Foto Biennale to be held next year. The two-tiered exhibition is set to be held from September 4 to October 4, attracting artists from Australia and around the world. The core tier of the exhibition will include works from up to 30 of the world's finest photographers, all showing exclusive artwork not seen before in Australia. The fringe tier invites anyone who can find space to host their artwork and manage their show to register with the Foto Biennale and be included in the festival. Julie Millowick, president of BIFB has praised the accessibility of photography in generating interest in events like the Foto Biennale. "Digital cameras have revolutionised (photography), and every day more and more people discover the joy and enrichment photography can bring to their lives."The exhibition has moved from Daylesford to Ballarat due to increased interest from the Australian and international public. Ballarat's "fantastic looking spaces" will hold the main exhibitions, such as the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery, Mining Exchange, Town Hall and the SMB Campus, festival director Jeff Moorfoot said."We're thrilled to be holding the festival in Ballarat," he said. "It's important to keep it in a regional area, and it gives us the chance to increase the international status of the event, hopefully which will reach over 100,000 attendees in the coming years."
