Ballarat captain tries for fourth A-grade golf title

BALLARAT Golf Club women's captain Pauline Murphy will vie for a fourth A grade club championship this weekend.Murphy will meet Jen Forbes in Sunday's title match, after each progressed through women's semi-final show-downs yesterday.Both long-time members of the club, each sports a good short game and should serve up a close bout.Chris Schiltz and Luke Murray will battle a highly-anticipated men's A grade club championship match play final on Sunday.Schiltz, a three-time past winner, and Murray, the 2003 winner have been clear club leaders all year.Each comfortably progressed through difficult quarter and semi-final conditions to reach the title match.Also in semi-final action yesterday, Julie Sewell qualified for her first final in women's C grade.Sewell picked up the game about a year ago in the women's clinic and contested her first match play final in yesterday's semis.She will meet Sue Howie in the final.Jill Dunne and Carolyn Sartori will meet in the women's B grade final.In other Ballarat Golf Club championship matches on Sunday: Steve Ryan and Leigh Mitchell will play in the B grade men's; C grade will see Bob LeMarshall pitted against Trevor Pyke; while, John Seery and Al Divitto will contest the D grade title.
