"WE'VE just won the Pakenham Cup."Ballarat businessmen Tony White and Darren Fraser have been spruiking this at every opportunity this week since their galloper Blaze Adrift landed the $100,000 event on Sunday. And they are hoping there is more to come.Blaze Adrift backs up in the $80,000 Yarra Valley Cup, 1950 metres, this Sunday.Racehorse owners often need patience. White and Fraser are thankful they had just that, and decided to stick with the six-year-old, which was bred and part-owned by cartoonist Ron Tanberg. They were part of a sizeable contingent of Ballarat interests in the gelding until the middle of last year."A lot of guys got out," White said.He said Blaze Adrift struggled to put it all together early last year, but after a break he turned things around for Mornington trainer Kelvin Southey.Blaze Adrift has had a sustained preparation, and since late December has had three wins. This has taken his lifetime record to seven wins and 10 minor placings from 39 starts for a healthy $127,169.And White and Fraser are confident there is more to come.
