Skurrie, who had a run with the Western Bulldogs last season, and who has been living in the Wimmera, has been named as an emergency.
The Kookaburras were set to play former East Ballarat premiership player Wayne Dawson back from Western Australia, but the luckless Dawson pulled his right hamstring at training last night.
A dejected Dawson said he simply over-extended when he bent down to pick up a low handball and will almost certainly miss at least a fortnight.
Gavin Collard, brother of star forward Adrian, is still another week away from joining the Kookaburras from Perth.
Sebastopol made two forced changes with permit player Cameron Leehane (Buninyong) and David Dridan (Lexton) unavailable. In comes Shaun Rumble and Joey Morrison.
Meanwhile, the Swans welcomed back key position interleague representative Andrew Madigan who is working in Melbourne.
It was a case of revamping a winning side for the Ballarat selectors as three senior players were forced out of the side through injury.
The worst injury occurred on Sunday morning to veteran star backman/onballer Andrew Ford who was taken to hospital with a severe disc injury to his lower back.
The Swans also lost Tim Canny (ankle) but on a positive note will only lose high-marking forward Aaron Nunn short-term with a badly bruised knee. Nunn was injured late in the first quarter of the first round match.
At Redan, the Lions broke into two squads with five players "in the mix" for senior selection last night.
Those considered last night for their first senior match of the season were former North pivot Aaron Freeland, Sam Giblett, Chris Matthews, Chris Beattie and Simon Dezote-Spiro.
Freeland was rushed in for Rick Cummins (knee) along with Chris Beattie and youngster Giblett.
The Sunbury Lions made four changes including Stewart Hoysted, 20, 180cm, from Williamstown after several injuries to key players.
Sunbury will play Bacchus Marsh at the rescheduled venue of Wendouree Oval as the Bacchus Marsh ground is unavailable because of irrigation works.
Lake Wendouree gave Adam Place of Cobden the nod for his debut match and also brought in Rod Parrot, Peter Donohue and Ben Stott as brothers Steve and Ian "Chopper" McCulloch are unavailable while Warren Sinclair has an injured elbow and Shane Roberts has been omitted.
Opponents Daylesford lost Matt O'Brien to a buttock injury and in comes Peter Jenkins and Craig Cowan.
East Point continued to strengthen its new-look line up with the inclusion of Leigh Trethowan back from Kyneton and Josh Blomley while Melton South included the dogged Paul Sproule (brother of coach Matthew) for Jason Sikorski (hamstring).
