A YOUNG child who drowned in a pool at Gold Coast holiday apartments on Friday was due to celebrate her parents' wedding yesterday.

The grief-stricken family called off the nuptials about 8.30pm after the four-year-old girl drowned while swimming at the Burleigh Palms apartments.
She was in the pool with 10 people. When she failed to surface, the group raised the alarm.
She was found at the bottom of the pool, a Gold Coast police spokesman told Channel Nine.
The girl, whose name has not been released, was taken under police escort to the Gold Coast Hospital, but she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Her family was reportedly visiting the Gold Coast from Goodna, near Ipswich, for the wedding.
In another water tragedy this weekend, a woman has died while snorkelling off Hook Island, in the Whitsundays.
The 61-year-old woman was with a group about 200 metres offshore about noon when she was found uncons cious.
"Initial investigations indicate there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman's death," a police statement said.
"Investigations are continuing."
